It all goes so fast. How do we make sure our kids are ready and prepared for life at 18 and onward. From the time they enter high school, the students don't even have a driver's license. So much will happen over the next 4 years-know that it is a letting go process! Respect your children, but hold them accountable for their behavior and choices. Just because they are 18 does not mean they are adults-it all depends on their choices. I always told my children you are an adult when you are paying for your own health insurance. LOL. Make sure they understand managing money, washing clothes, auto care, proper relationships with the opposite sex. They are beginning patterns now that can lead to a wonderful adult life or a miserable one. Above all-lean on the Lord that created them and will give you wisdom. Make sure investments in other adult relationships happen for them that are speaking same truths into their hearts as you would. The best is yet to come. Adult children flying the nest is the best but it is a ton of investment before that time. There are so many resources out there for us--use them. One I have loved is Focus on the Family! Whatever you are struggling with--they have been through it!http://www.focusonthefamily.com/
